A 75-minute tour plus the tasting plus walking between points is about 2.5 hours. The 105-minute Hard Hat Tour plus the tasting is closer to 3 hours. If you want to browse the gift shop (bottles, glasses, merchandise, books), add 30–45 minutes. If you are just doing the tour and the tasting, 2.5 hours is safe.

Arrival tips

Tours depart on schedule. Arrive 15 minutes early. The parking lot is limited, so plan for parking time. If it is early morning or a Saturday, aim to arrive 20–30 minutes before your tour start time.

How much of the tour is on your feet

Length on the clock and length in the legs are different questions. All three tours are walking tours across a working campus, with gravel, thresholds and stairs between buildings, and the Hard Hat Tour spends most of its extra half-hour inside a rackhouse rather than sitting down. There is very little seating along the way. Because a Buffalo Trace visit realistically eats a half-day once you include the drive, most people pair it with exactly one more stop rather than two. The distilleries nearby vary a lot in how far they pull you off the route, and a tour that runs an hour can still cost you three once the driving is counted.
