Louisville: Kentucky Bourbon Trail Full Day Tour review

The three itineraries — pick Thursday if you want Buffalo Trace
Pegasus Tour runs this on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, each with a different route. Only the Thursday "Legends and Barrels" itinerary names Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve and J. Mattingly 1845. Friday is "Angels & Outlaws" (Angel’s Envy, Stitzel-Weller, Uncle Boojie’s). Saturday is "Mash & Mingle" (James B. Beam, Heaven Hill). Lunch at a different venue each day, plus a private tour at the Frazier History Museum on Thursday.
What works
- Reaches Buffalo Trace on Thursday; not all operators can claim that
- Eight-hour day means three distilleries, lunch and museum time without rushing
- PAX-certified driver and a bourbon host on board
- Small group (max 10) and luxury van
- Booked reviews: Bob the bourbon host and Van the driver are praised by name
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours
Worth knowing
- Thursday only if you want Buffalo Trace; Friday/Saturday do not
- Small review sample (7 reviews, though they’re consistent)
- Eight hours is a full day; not a half-commitment
- Excludes alcoholic beverages beyond the tastings
Book the Thursday departure if you specifically want Buffalo Trace. Ask Pegasus about the weather policy for the Frazier museum; a few activities are outdoors. Bring a photo ID for the distillery tours. The van departs the Galt House at 8:30 a.m. and returns around 5 p.m.

Frequently asked questions
Does this tour really go to Buffalo Trace?
Only on Thursday, the “Legends and Barrels” itinerary. Friday and Saturday go to different distilleries. If Buffalo Trace is your main goal, you must book Thursday.
How is this different from booking Buffalo Trace directly?
Buffalo Trace’s own tours are free and book only on their site; the catch is the Wednesday 10 a.m. scramble and the Hard Hat selling out in two minutes. This tour costs money but it guarantees a seat and adds the other distilleries and the museum without extra planning.
What’s included?
Van, bourbon host, lunch at Goodwood, distillery tours and tastings, Frazier museum entry, water and snacks. Excludes alcoholic beverages beyond the tastings and gratuity (tip the guide).
